no, it isn't :(  /etc/ may be read-only. /etc is only used for static 
config files. xxvd.cfg isn't static, it's modified by xxv. Maybe it can 
be linked to /etc?

Over the weekend I will commit xxv to Alioth. We've reached an agreement 
about the naming now. The package will be called vdr-xxv. The skins will 
be put in vdr-xxv-skins (all in one package, Andreas has put them 
together in the upstream too.)
