Thanks for the hint! vdr should be added to the group "audio". Maybe the
vdr package it self should add the user vdr to audio.

When I start vdr as vdr:vdr with "-vo xv:", I get:

Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: No protocol specified

"xhost +vdr" doesn't help, only "xhost +" works, but allows everyone to
connect. Is there any other way to allow the user vdr acces to the XServer?

It wouldn't be too hard to install these sub-libs in another directory.
As far as I saw, the plugin has an option to specify the sub-lib
directory. But I'm note sure, this will make a big difference. As ffmpeg
is linked statically, the plugin itself is pretty big anyway - with or
without the sub-libs. Do you see any advantage in separating the output
libs?
