Hmm, what I tried to say is that the DirectFB drivers for some ATI cards 
are  unusable (Mach64) or buggy (Rage128), I don't own a Radeon but I 
think a Radeon works fine. There are may drivers which work great like 
the Matrox drivers or the Unichrome drivers. In fact Stefan das most of 
the development on a Matrox card using DirectFB, so DirectFB is 
certainly very good supported by the softdevice.
So I want to second Nicolas statement, if possible there should be a 
DirectFB version of the softdevice.

No the postproc stuff is not required, it is an option and to be honest, 
it isn't even working in the 0.1.1 release. But there is already a 
softdevice-0.1.2 which fixes this ;-)
