I can't see any change between 1.6.0.8 and -11 that may cause such a
problem. No patches were added or changed, affecting the Debian default
binaries (all opt-patches are not used for building the Debian-Packages!).
But here are some thoughts:

1. Freeview might have changed the EPG PIDs. Make sure, you've configured
   VDR to at least update the channel PIDs.
2. Most likely, you've updated your Kernel when updating to -11, so this
   might as well be a DVB driver problem.
3. EPG problems very often are caused by the broadcasters. At least for
   some small German channels it often happens, that you don't get EPG
   data, if the person responsible for the EPG is on vacation :-)

It's hard to find a solution for such bug, without beeing able to
receive Freeview. But I don't think, this is a problem with VDR itself.
