On the other hand, this works:

xine "xvdr://127.0.0.1:37890#nocache"

with:

ii  libxine2-xvdr                                    1.0.7+cvs20120130.2334-2
ii  vdr                                              1.7.23-1
ii  vdr-plugin-xineliboutput                         1.0.7+cvs20120130.2334-2
