If this sustained work rate will continue in the future (as I hope :),
it would be a good idea to have another coordination tool among vim
maintainers which do not require working with the BTS (which has delays
and also the drawback of "committment" you sketch above).

There was something similar for the BSPs, for example.

If you like I could set up a wiki where we could just drop lines like
"hey, I'm working on Bug#xxxxx" and "hey, I give up working on
Bug#xxxxx".
