Package: vim
Version: 6.0.093-2
Severity: normal

Start with some text such as

This is a very long line
    short
This is a very long line

Suppose that I enter visual block mode with the selection extending
from the first "l" to the second "g", then hit uppercase "A" for
"append". According to section 10.5 of the Vim user guide, the text I
enter should be appended to the first and third lines, but not the
second. That is, the result should be

This is a very longXXX line
    short
This is a very longXXX line

rather than

This is a very longXXX line
    short XXX
This is a very longXXX line

In fact, the result turns out to be the latter, not the former.

Thanks, I'm closing the bug then.

Still, I think section 10.5 of the on-line help is a bit misleading on
this subject since you first says "If the block spans short lines that
do not extend into the block, the text is not inserted in that line."
for "I" and then "The "A" command works the same way, except that it
appends after the right side of the block."

Maybe you can add a link to v_b_A there, don't know ...

Thanks again,
Cheers.
