Are you still experiencing these problems?  If so, check whether you
have a stale /etc/vim/vimrc or /etv/vim/gvimrc.  There would likely be a
vimrc.dpkg-new or vimrc.dpkg-dist (same with gvimrc) in /etc/vim.
