Honestly I didn't checked either.

Ok. now the thing is that I would like to have a vim command when I
install Debian.
(Note that when I have vim-* installed, I expect to have a vim. At the
same time, I completely agree with your rational and Colin Watson's bug
about vi* in /bin/).

How can we have a vim command by default?
