Package: vim-common
Version: 2:7.4.488-4
Severity: serious
Justification: Policy 4.5

Hello and thanks for maintaining my favorite text editor in Debian!

It has been recently noticed that package vim-common includes the
xxd command which used to be licensed in a non-free manner and is
not documented in the debian/copyright file:

https://lists.debian.org/debian-legal/2015/01/msg00033.html

Luckily, the author and copyright holder for xxd kindly agreed
to dual-license it under the "X11-MIT license" or the GNU GPL v2
(at the user's choice):

https://lists.debian.org/debian-legal/2015/01/msg00037.html

I asked for and obtained confirmation that Jürgen intended to adopt
the Expat/MIT license (and the GNU GPL v2 as an explicit further
option, at the user's choice):

https://lists.debian.org/debian-legal/2015/01/msg00038.html
https://lists.debian.org/debian-legal/2015/01/msg00039.html

Please document this dual-licensing status of xxd in the
debian/copyright file.

Thanks for your time!
Bye.
