 I'm mostly sending this as a reminder of why we shouldn't use gcc 2.95
 for compiling any of the libs (just in case they fail in some arch)

 From debian-release:
3) [the big one] gcc-3's C++ ABI is totally incompatible with
gcc-2.95's.=20
