Package: asterisk
Version: 1.0-1
Severity: serious

It is very bad if a debian package says that it is version 1.0, but there
is no upstream version 1.0.

There was, for some time, a stable branch in CVS that was meant to become
version 1.0. But it never came to version 1.0 and currently CVS head is
believed to be more stable.

Also, when you install the so called "1.0"-version debian package and
start asterisk, the command line prompt says:

asterisk*CLI> show version
Asterisk 0.7.2 built by msp at dell dot purcell dot homeip dot net on a
i686 running Linux

So this is completely weird. I't suggest to use asterisk-0.7.2-2004xxxx as
a format for the package or something similar.

Holger,

Thanks for the report.

My mistake, working off CVS as you suggested.

As of yesterday asterisk-1:0.9.1-1 has been loaded to unstable.

Mark
