When using gnomemeeting and netmeeting together video protocol breaks or
video stalls.
I have used Gnomemeeting successfully with another Gnomemeeting user. I
currently have WinTV PCI. The video and sound works well as to be
expected and was able to speak for a half hour or so.
However, when I connect to a Net Meeting user, the video in Gnomemeeting
stalls after a few minutes. I have spent much time trying to figure out
why this is happening. I considered looking at the code myself. I
tried many settings to see if I can lengthen the video without stalling.
This user is using broadband as I am(Net Meeting User DSL 256k and I
am using Cable 700+ w/ Gnomemeeting). My video continues to send when
the video received stalls. I have tried turning off audio and different
audio codecs to see if it was bandwidth related and the received video
still stalls. I have tried boosting the settings for audio. I have
tried video settings that were requiring less bandwidth. I have tried
not sending video and only receiving video. I have tried having the
user and myself use Large and Small screen settings.
I have tried several versions of Gnomemeeting including the old stable
version. I have update the recommended packages for the 0.96 release.
I used this same computer and hardware setup with Windows 2000 and
NetMeeting. I was able to connect to the same Net Meeting and to
communicate more than an hour many times. That person is using the
newest NetMeeting version and Logitech QuickCam.
Does Gnomemeeting work with NetMeeting and has anyone experienced the
same problems? Mencoder and XawTV work well with my WinTV card.
Keep up the good work.
Debian GNU/Linux, kernel 2.4.20
My system is using newest packages from APT
