I should mention that the nice chaps at Debian have packaged 1.0.7
asterisk, which has now entered Debian sarge. 1.0.7 included an upstream
fix for the bug reported above. 

[note to fx tech team] This means we can pull packages out of hold and
upgrade to the latest version.

I've done some testing, and the latest package doesn't appear to exhibit
the above reported fault.
