That's the way Debian works, the packages are inserted into the unstable 
distribution (sid) after 10 days they make it into the testing distribution 
(sarge) and then once in a while the testing distribution becomes stable.

There are backports available which take the current packages from testing/ 
unstable and make them available for stable.
