Hi folks

I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Tzafrir Cohen. I work in a
startup company called Xorcom. We have created an debian-based Asterisk
distribution called Xorcom Rapid:

  http://xorcom.com/rapid.html

Technically Xorcom Rapid is a Sarge netinstaller ISO with the following
modifications:

* answering priority changed to "critical". Don't ask anything from the
user unless it is really really necessary
* a little preseed file
* The contents of the CD repository is copied at install time (before
the boot) to the installed system. The user doesn't need the CD again
after the boot. The repository is 165MB so it is affordable
* some small modifications to asterisk and zaptel packages. asterisk,
zaptel and libpri generally track the stable version better than the
	curren Sarge version
* Zaptel modules are built and come with the distribution.
Furthermore, TDM cards are detected and configured
* a working out-of-the-box configuration
We cheated a bit with the passwordless SIP extensions and IAX
	extension
* a pdmenu-based menu (rapid-menu) is our current user interface.
Currently we basically try to automate things as much as possible: a
user shoould not be expected to remember commands. This is part of the
	packag rapid-scripts
* also in rapid-scripts: ast-cmd, which does every small scripting task
we needed. The ability to place a call file may be useful to the
	general public.
* A number of extra services that may be useful and don't take too much
  space.

Xorcom intends to focus on selling hardware, and Rapid intends to be a
platform to make that hardware useful for our potential customers.

The main thing that we need now is a better interface. Currently AMP
seems like the preffered choice. I tend to distrust mysql. I have a
feeling it has bad interactions with packaging systems.

Also: what about stuff from the asterisk-addons package? Specifically
the CDR stuff?

Our packages are available from:

deb http://updates.xorcom.com/rapid sarge main
deb-src http://updates.xorcom.com/rapid sarge main

The latter should be availble in an hour or so.
