I'm pretty sure that Debian policy states that we must build with i386,
and we were checking with the asterisk build through dpkg-architecture.

This is also similar to the sparc issue we had about two months back.

I have also had all sorts of problems trying to remotly debug problems
with asterisk binary packages not running on lower arcitectures.

If the default binaries are built for lowest common denominator then
if people really want the performance ehanced then it is pretty easy for
those that want to rebuild the binaries for thier specific
implementation.

Btw, while I am back into email now I'm still only on dialup, broadband
is comining so it maybe a little while before I get my svn back into
sync with upstream.  Thanks for keeping to momentum with asterisk in my
absence.
