Debian asterisk-app-fax

Mark,

Can you tell me if the Debian asterisk-app-fax package has the code 
for rxfax to support the "|debug" command?

Debug is implemented as:

exten => s,3,rxfax(${FAXFILE}|debug)

but when I do this I don't see any extra info in the asterisk CLI and 
no log seems to be created.  I cant find any documentation on what 
|debug is supposed to do on the net anywhere.

My problem is that with Debian 3.1 stable I get a normal call 
progression saying a fax is received but no files are ever created on 
the disk and the sender gets a transmission error.  (using a pstn 
line into a TDM400P so this shouldnt be codec issues).

Thanks for listening.  I'm happy to do whatever leg work it takes to 
fix my problem but I cant seem to find any extra info to debug this.
I's starting asterisk with

asterisk -U asterisk -G asterisk -vvvvvvr -dddddd
