I'm not against this, but I don't want to overly complicate the build system 
as a result.

The current asterisk classic/bristuff is a little difficult to manage, 
especially with upstream patches for each new upstream release.

While twinkle shouldn't be that difficult, I don't want to make it overly 
complex.

Also the kde integration is one of twinkle's strengths, but I would say that 
sitting on my KDE desktop... Especially the addressbook, pictures, sip:/ 
URL's....

I can understand the intent, but I don't know if the means justify it.  
Pulling in kde libs isn't that bad, with disk/ bandwidth being cheep.  Given 
two many choices can be bad for the users as well.  If people do want a lite 
version it is a simple complier flag..  Perhaps we could include in the 
README?

As a dedicated KDE user I have been pulling in bits and pieces of gnome 
libraries over the years to get things like gnomeeting, gnucash and the like 
running.
