...and it's also run by kernels upon configure of the postinst. That is
even the regular way (like dpkg-reconfigure linux-image-2.6.17-1-...) to
rebuild the initramfs and have it updated in the bootloader. To me
that's not much different from what asterisk_fix is doing (adding some
more generic post-install-hook that *may* be called by the user after
screwing up - or by a regular maintainer script)

"Updates the permissions of the asterisk configuration files. Used by
the asterisk package itself and all kind of helper apps that come as an
extension or addon to asterisk. Usually shouldn't be required to be run
manually."
