Asterisk 1.2.1 doesn't start anymore because of chan-capi:
Jan  1 19:43:31 WARNING[29872] loader.c: /usr/lib/asterisk/modules/chan_capi.so: undefined symbol: ast_pthread_create
Jan  1 19:43:31 WARNING[29872] loader.c: Loading module chan_capi.so failed!

Sounds like the ABI and even API changed (see FTBFS bug# 340875)
