There is no new ming-fonts package yet. I'm not sure what you are using.
Note that the packages that are sitting in the NEW queue for ming can also
be found at
http://www.netsweng.com/~anderson/ming/ (for sarge)
http://www.netsweng.com/~anderson/ming-unstable/ (for etch)
I looked at the URL you provided above, and got confused about their heritage
(though I have to admit I looked quickly as I'm just getting back in town
from a trip).

There is no new ming-fonts package becasue I'd like to implement a new way
of creating that packge so we can get a wider selection of fonts. I'd like to
creat a package that depends on the existing font package that contain
interesting TTF fonts, and then build the ming fonts from them. One thing
that stands in the way of this is that we don't have a ttf2fft package. I've
just about decided I will have to pick that one up too, but I need to read
over the license more closely to make sure it is acceptable.

I don't think I've seen these updates yet. Are you referring to the packages
in http://archive.buildserver.net/pkg-voip/build/? If so, I'll need to take
a closer look.
Fixing the ming-fonts package is on my list of things to get accomplished. I
didn't realize that is was holding someone else up though, so I'll try to
increase it's prioroty on my list.
