asterisk-perl situtation

Hello, again,
Sorry for the flood of emails and sorry if I am being too intrusive in
such a sort time :-) If you feel I'm annoying you, just say so.

Tzafrir has been working on the Perl modules for Asterisk for quite some
time.
SVN had libasterisk-perl and now asterisk-perl.

Unfortunately, someone else (Rene Mayorga[1]) beat him to it and the
package (called libasterisk-agi-perl but is the same thing) is already
in unstable _and_ testing.
Rene filled an ITP et al so we can't really blame him.

Moreover, the package was prepared by Tzafrir on November 2004 and has
changelog entries on Jun 2005, Oct 2006, Aug 2007 but never got uploaded
in Debian!

So:
a) I'd like us to upload to Debian every package in SVN which is in a
decent shape in Debian. They don't have to be perfect -release
early/release often is a good practice IMHO- and our users can help us
make them better.

This situation was a loss for Tzafrir's time for all these years and was
a loss for our users who only got the package on May 2007 and missed it
in the etch release.

I began this effort before (regarding -addons, ari etc.) without even
knowing about this!

b) Mark, Kilian: what do you think of inviting Rene to maintain his
package on pkg-voip SVN?

I'm kind of a "all under the same umbrella" guy but I'm not a team
administrator or even a team member for more than a week :)

Note that Rene is not a Debian Developer and the upload of his package
was done from Bart Martens, as gpg --verify shows.

If not being a DD is not acceptable, is it possible to give him commit
rights only in his package subdirectory for starters?
IOW, ask him to become his comaintainers but not the other way around?
That's suboptimal IMHO but seems better than nothing.

Regards,
Faidon
