asterisk

As reported by asterisk official site, I've red that your group is mantaining asterisk in debian stable.
Since I use asterisk (version 1.4) on another distro for releasing prefessional ivr/call centers services, I would like to know which kind of advantages I would have to migrate to debian.
Do you guarantee hardware (Digium boards) and software compatibility for a particular version of Zaptel and Asterisk? Are these modules included as package in debian?
