Yes it's suitable; there are many binary-blobs-without-source firmwares 
in non-free.

There is even the "firmware-nonfree" source package which produces 
binary packages for many different kind of firmwares.

But I think this is mostly for stuff that are needed during installation 
or something like that.

I'm not sure however, perhaps you should contact the maintainers.
