Echo canceller - oslec not going?

I'm trying to get oslec to work.  I have a Digium TDM400 ("early rev H") 
with a fxs line (fax machine) and 3 fxo lines.

I've upgraded asterisk, kernel & zaptel-soruce to the versions in 
testing.  Built and installed the modules.

Reboot and.... it doesn't seem to work.  oslec module is built but does 
not load by default.  I have tried loading it manually and making calls, 
but allways get the message "no echo canceller being monitored - make a 
new call".

I'd appreciate any suggestions.
