Could you clarify what you mean by "not loading"?
I'm getting
   == Registered application 'RxFAX'
app_rxfax.so => (Trivial FAX Receive Application)
   == Registered application 'TxFAX'
app_txfax.so => (Trivial FAX Transmit Application)

On asterisk 1.4.17~dfsg-2+b1, arch: amd64.
As I said before, it also works on i386.
