I don't think anybody is working on it now.

One expected problem, in case you need chan_zap: we work with libpri
1.4.3, and have an extensive patch to it. Asterisk 1.6 expects libpri
1.4.4, I believe. The bristuff patch will need some adjustments to build
with it.
