Zaptel is a collection of kernel modules and libraries to provide the
Zapata Telephony interface, used mostly by Asterisk. It has been renamed
to DAHDI due to a name dispute with zaptel.com . See
http://blogs.digium.com/2008/05/19/zaptel-project-being-renamed-to-dahdi/
Zaptel is still supported, but generally in maintinance mode. No new
release has been made for over a year.
The packages dahdi-linux and dahdi-tools provide a simple upgrade path
from zaptel. They are already in Squeeze.
Only dependency of Zaptel in the archive was Asterisk. Current version
(1.6.2) no longer build with Zaptel anyway, and only builds with DAHDI
anyway.
