Forwording to the list,

Since you are the only one who has expressed interest in binary
compatibility between openr2 releases, I thought you'd be interested
to know that I added openr2 to linuxtesting.org web service to check
binary compatibility between releases.
http://linuxtesting.org/upstream-tracker/versions/openr2.html

The current trunk version is the only one that purposely breaks both
binary and source code compatibility with current releases, since
trunk is meant to work with both Asterisk and FreeSWITCH (including
Windows support), some interface changes were required.

I plan to keep binary compatibility in 1.x releases, in the following
days I'll be releasing a new 1.x release (binary compatible) and
sometime in February the first 2.x release which is meant to work with
both Asterisk and FreeSWITCH but that is not binary compatible with
1.x versions.

I am still unsure if this won't result in more confusion for users and
I should just get rid of 1.x altogether and start fresh with 2.x which
work with both Asterisk and FreeSWITCH. Any preferences from a Debian
maintainer point of view?
