Actually, this is already available, but the documentation is obscure
and provided only for linphonecsh:
=====
(sid-desktop)luca at gismo:~$ linphonecsh --help
Usage:
linphonecsh <action> [arguments]
[...]
soundcard : can be 'soundcard capture', 'soundcard playback', 'soundcard ring',
followed by an optional number representing the index of the soundcard,
in which case the soundcard is set instead of just read.
[...]
(sid-desktop)luca at gismo:~$ linphonec
[...]
linphonec> soundcard list
0: ALSA: default device
1: ALSA: HDA Intel
2: PulseAudio: default
linphonec> soundcard show
Ringer device: ALSA: default device
Playback device: ALSA: default device
Capture device: ALSA: default device
linphonec> soundcard capture 2
Using capture sound device PulseAudio: default
linphonec> soundcard show
Ringer device: ALSA: default device
Playback device: ALSA: default device
Capture device: PulseAudio: default
linphonec> help soundcard
'soundcard list' : list all sound devices.
'soundcard show' : show current sound devices configuration.
'soundcard use <index>' : select a sound device.
'soundcard use files' : use .wav files instead of soundcard
linphonec> quit
Terminating...
No active call.

=====
So the bug is the fact that this option is undocumented in linphonec
help and also in upstream documentation [1], title updated ;-)

Thx, bye,
