The first thing I wanted was to have the issues (and their workarounds)
documented in the BTS.

That being done (and I might continue to post the solutions I came up
with, unless you'd rather I didn't use the BTS in that way), I would
thank you if you could forward the issue upstream. I tend to appreciate
the value of Debian providing one single interface as a front-end to a
plethora of ways upstreams like to keep track of their bugs.
