Why does mumble depend on libpulse0?

I am using Debian Squeeze, and due to some problems with applications and
pulseaudio, I decided to remove pulseaudio and use alsa instead.
Unfortunately, removing libpulse0 meant removing several packages that by
all rights should not depend on libpulse0, including mumble. I wish to know
the reasoning behind this dependency, and why it cannot instead be merely a
recommendation.
