Package: asterisk
Version: 1.8.8.2~dfsg-1
Severity: important
Dear Maintainer,
This may be the same root cause as #481702 - the symptoms are somewhat similar.
For my asterisk system, I was using IAX2 with trunking enabled. The call
quality (outgoing voice only) was bad - skips, sub-second silences inserted,
and what sounded like encoder problems.
I consulted the mailing list, and a few useful things were learned:
- I was using trunking. By turning trunking off, the problem vanished.
- A Digium employee (developer?) told me there was a very recently
discovered/fix bug in the IAX2 code, and that the fix is in the current
SVN.
- A cursory look at the Asterisk SVN repository shows r355746 and possibly
r355793. There are a couple of additional commits around the same time
that seem to deal with IAX2 trunking (r355458, r355448).
- So while I know the fix is in SVN, I'm not sure exactly what the full
patch would consist of.
