I don't try to connect phones directly to Asterisk any more, they
always go through an edge proxy (repro) and an SBC (e.g. reConServer)

Therefore, I can't confirm if the bug is fixed or not but given the
change to PjSIP, maybe bugs like this have gone away.  Even so, I
would always recommend using the edge proxy solution, even if the bug
is fixed, that way the phones can stay connected even when Asterisk is
restarted or crashes from time to time.
