Is there any progress with this work?

Source tarballs are not yet available, but you are free to package
directly from the git repository. If this is a blocker, please let me
know and we will see what we can do.

I am a DD and I work at Savoir-faire Linux, which supports the Ring
project. I am not experienced with packaging C/C++ apps but I am willing
to help if needed. We really want to see this move forward.

I will be your contact and I can answer any questions you have about ring.

I hope to interest people from the pkg voip team with this, so I am
CC-ing them.

On a side note, Ring will be featured at FOSDEM!
