Status of the Debian VoIP packages

Hi,
first of all thanks for your work on the Debian VoIP packages.
It is good to see that Asterisk development is active again,
and I am looking forward to seeing #816042 resolved.
One thing that bothers me is that ekiga is not in testing due to
3 RC bugs in opal/ptlib that should be easily fixable.
At least half of the open RC bugs in packages maintained by the Debian
VoIP Team look easily resolvable, and I will do a run of submitting
patches to the ones where the fix is actually easy.
But I have currently neither the knowledge nor the interest to do
anything about all the other maintainer tasks (normal bugs, new
upstream versions,...) in any of these packages, and this is also
required.
I would suggest the following:
1. If you need more people in general, start by sending a request
to debian-devel.
2. If there are specific complex packages where more people are needed,
send RFH bugs against wnpp for these packages.
I wouldn't expect miracles from that, but this is visible in the package
tracker and listed in a weekly email to debian-devel.
3. If there are packages where you are not able to find anyone able and
willing to properly maintain them within your team, please orphan these.
Orphaning a package allows other people to adopt it, and QA can do basic
maintainance.
Opinions?
Thanks
Adrian
