Is this issue still relevant to you?

Did you try to discuss this issue with the upstream developers?  It seem
like a good idea to get their input on the changes, and it is probably
best if you have direct contact with them instead of trying to pass in
through others.

I believe upstream uses <URL: https://issues.asterisk.org/jira/browse/DAHLIN >
as their bug tracker.
