Whoops - no, I am not sure, and now that I look again I totally misread 
the situation: When your patch didn't apply cleanly I examined upstream 
changes and saw a change to use pkg-config where it was not used before 
- and then misread your patch as _introducing_ pkg-config where in fact 
it nudges an existing use of pkg-config.
