> You seem to forget that

What you (and apparently many other maintainers) seem to forget is:

> a) we are all volunteers

Most bug reporters (including me) are volunteers too.

Well managed projects treat good bug reports as a valuable resource
to increase the quality of the project. Others consider them a
nuisance which must be gotten rid of.

Always good to know which kind of project this is. I promise you I
won't bother you with any further bug reports.

Though it would be easier for everyone to know this up front, and
I'm only half kidding here. Maybe a flag can be introduced so
reportbug will say "maintainers don't really want any bug reports,
do you really need to continue?"

> b) we are not upstream

Then forward it to upstream.

Debian strongly recommends users to report bugs via reportbug (see
https://www.debian.org/Bugs/Reporting). That's well and good because
some bugs may be due to Debian specific changes (*cough* openssl).
But you know (I hope) who's upstream and can forward
non-Debian-specific bugs there.

> c) noone has looked at the project for several years

Now that's really bad, especially for such a program. And I guess
the last thing someone did was the change of GUI toolkits which is
of course the most important thing for a phone program (not!).

So I consider linphone a dead project now, that's all.

> d) not all bugs can be clearly reproduced.

We're not talking about all bugs, but one specific bug. My original
bug report gave a very easy and clear description how to reproduce
it. I don't think anyone actually tried to reproduce it.

Did you set it to "wontfix" at least?
