The VoIP team is centered around this mailinglist - Salsa is an addon.

Accepting newcomers into Salsa but not guiding them to this list is not
really welcoming them into the team, it is only handing them a key to
some of our machinery.  That's why I was concerned if you had *only*
accepted their request at Salsa.

Reframing that as me making demands to newcomers is missing the point
(or is an insult, but I'll assume good faith): Obviously we expect that
all team members - also newcomers - use team communication channels.
Not expecting that would be irresponsible.
