I thought about what you said about keeping the repositories clean ( if 
I submit a bad upgrade, it could cause issues in the repository ).

I think using the merge-request feature of Salsa would be a good idea as 
it would allow newer contributors to propose changes, and you can review 
them before accepting them. With the MR feature, you look at the changes 
and if you have any issues/comments, you can send the changes back with 
comments.

Once all the issues/comments are worked out and you are happy with the 
changes, you can accept the MR into debian/latest.
