Masters of Albion Launches Today at 1pm ET (And Early Reviews Are Mixed)
Peter Molyneux’s Masters of Albion hits Steam Early Access today at 6pm BST / 1pm ET / 10am PT for $24.99 (10% launch discount). After 43 years in the industry, the Fable and Black & White creator is calling this his final game—and early impressions suggest it might actually deliver on his promises. For once.
What it is
A god game that blends city-building, real-time combat, and simulation. By day, you build towns with total creative freedom (no construction timers, instant results, Lego-like building). By night, you defend against zombies and monsters by possessing heroes or using god powers.
The team includes legends from Fable, Black & White, Dungeon Keeper, and LittleBigPlanet. Molyneux says it’s “the culmination of my life’s work” and openly calls it his “redemption title” after overpromising on Curiosity, Godus, and past Fable features.
The early verdict
PC Games N just published their hands-on: “Masters of Albion does what Peter Molyneux promised, ‘it brings joy.’” They praise the immediate satisfaction of building and the day-night loop that keeps you engaged.
But PC Gamer warned a month ago it might be “trying to be all of Molyneux’s games at once without excelling at any.” The concern: it’s a “greatest hits” collection that doesn’t commit fully to any single mechanic.
What you get in Early Access
Chapter One with full story, open-world exploration inspired by Fable 2/3 and Zelda: Breath of the Wild, RPG quests (gold scrolls = main story, silver scrolls = optional), and a moral alignment system where choices visibly reshape the world.
Early Access expected to last under one year, with new areas and features added throughout. First-week buyers get exclusive “Founders Paint Pack” (limited in-game colors).
The catch
This is Peter Molyneux. The man who promised revolutionary AI in Black & White that would learn from your behavior, then delivered a creature that occasionally remembered not to eat villagers. The man who said Fable would let you plant an acorn and watch it grow into a tree over your character’s lifetime.
He’s self-aware about it now: “We’re going to make some horrendous mistakes,” he said in a recent interview. “Horrendous, horrendous mistakes.”

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Remake Reveals Tomorrow (And It’s Supposedly Huge)
Ubisoft is finally, officially revealing Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced tomorrow—Thursday, April 23 at 12pm ET / 9am PT—in a dedicated worldwide showcase on YouTube and Twitch.
Gaming’s worst-kept secret
Ubisoft literally called it “gaming’s worst kept secret” in their announcement tweet. Leaks, screenshots, and footage have been circulating since 2023. The company finally confirmed the project last month with promotional art of Edward Kenway lounging on a boat.
What we know (from leaks)
According to industry insider Tom Henderson, this is a full remake, not a remaster:
Built on the latest Anvil Engine
New missions, new characters, and new features
You can bring pets on your ship (yes, really)
Native 4K, 60fps performance mode
Seamless ship-to-shore transitions (no loading screens)
Modernized controls aligned with recent AC games
No multiplayer (the trailer description says “iconic solo pirate adventure”—online mode is cut)
Possible release date
Rumored launch: July 9, 2026 (unconfirmed but from a highly reliable Ubisoft source). If true, that’s a shockingly short reveal-to-release window.
Why this matters
Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag (2013) reached 34 million players and is widely considered one of the best entries in the franchise. It’s 13 years old. A proper remake makes perfect sense.
The concern: Ubisoft has a... let’s say mixed track record with remakes. Fans are nervous. Top YouTube comment on the teaser: “yall better not mess this up, this game is a gem.”

Vampire Crawlers Had a Massive First Day on Game Pass
Vampire Crawlers launched yesterday as a Game Pass day-one title, and it’s already one of the most-played games on the service.
The numbers
While Microsoft doesn’t share specific player counts, the game is currently trending #3 on Xbox’s “most played” list for Game Pass Ultimate subscribers, behind only Call of Duty and Fortnite.
PC Gamer published their review yesterday: mixed verdict. They called it “a simplistic and repetitive grind” and “a lopsided roguelike deckbuilder that takes far too long to click.”
But Steam players disagree—it currently sits at “Very Positive” with thousands of reviews praising the combo system and Turboturn mechanics.
The divide
If you loved Vampire Survivors, you’ll probably love this. If you bounced off VS because it felt too repetitive, the deck-building won’t save it for you.
