Welcome back to the week. Diablo 4’s massive Lord of Hatred expansion just launched overnight with two new classes and an entire new region, Don’t Nod’s sci-fi survival game Aphelion lands on Game Pass TODAY, and we’ve got a packed week of releases ahead. Let’s dive in.
Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred Is Here—And It’s the Biggest Expansion Yet
Blizzard’s Lord of Hatred expansion for Diablo 4 went live last night (April 27 at 7pm ET / 4pm PT) and is already live worldwide as of this morning. This is the second major expansion for Diablo 4 after Vessel of Hatred, and it’s bringing some of the biggest changes the game has ever seen.
What’s new (the massive stuff)
Two new classes:
Paladin (already playable if you pre-ordered)
Warlock (launches with the expansion TODAY)
New region: Skovos - An entirely new area to explore with unique enemies, bosses, and environments
New campaign: Face Mephisto, the Lord of Hatred himself, in a darker storyline than anything Diablo 4 has done before
Increased level cap - Players can now push their characters even further
Massive skill tree overhaul - Every class got sweeping changes and improvements
New difficulty system - Progression completely redesigned
Season of Reckoning - Launched 30 minutes after the expansion (7:30pm ET last night) with new Season Rank rewards, Tower challenges, and Leaderboards Beta returning April 30
The collaboration nobody expected
The metal band Spiritbox created an exclusive track titled “Reward the Scars” for the expansion. The official music video premiered yesterday at 7pm BST on YouTube—because nothing says “fight demons from Hell” like crushing guitar riffs.
There’s also a Jackson Kelly Diablo IV - Lord of Hatred Limited Edition guitar featuring Mephisto’s face on the front and blood-red binding. Yes, really.
The price
Standard Edition: $39.99 (includes previous Vessel of Hatred expansion if you don’t own it) Deluxe Edition: $59.99 (adds premium battle pass + exclusive cosmetics) Ultimate Edition: Higher tier with even more cosmetics, armor sets, mounts, and 3,000 premium currency

Early player reaction
Metacritic shows “generally favorable” reviews so far. PC Gamer praised the darker tone and new Warlock class mechanics. Players on Reddit are loving the skill tree changes but noting some early server hiccups (typical for a Blizzard expansion launch).

Aphelion Lands on Game Pass TODAY—Don’t Nod’s Frozen Planet Survival Game
Aphelion, the sci-fi action-adventure from Don’t Nod (Life is Strange, Jusant), launches TODAY on Game Pass as a day-one title. It’s available RIGHT NOW on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass.
What it is
Set in 2060, Earth is dying. The European Space Agency discovers Persephone, a frozen ninth planet at the edge of our solar system—humanity’s last hope. You play as two ESA astronauts:
Ariane Montclair - Focused on parkour-style traversal, exploration, and cinematic action
Thomas Cross - Injured after the crash, relies on investigation, puzzles, and survival
Their ship crash-lands, separating them across the planet. You switch between both characters to reunite and complete the mission.
Why it matters
This was made in collaboration with the European Space Agency—the real-world science and physics are legit. Persephone is designed as a believable ninth planet with accurate planetary conditions, gravity mechanics, and survival challenges.
Don’t Nod is calling it their most “physical” game yet—less narrative walking simulator, more survival action with stealth, environmental hazards, and reality-bending anomalies.

The catch
This is Don’t Nod’s third Game Pass day-one launch in six months after Lost Records: Bloom and Rage and Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden. Xbox is clearly betting big on narrative-driven games.
Early impressions are positive—TheXboxHub calls it “exactly the kind of narrative-driven experience that benefits from instant Game Pass accessibility.”
