Rockstar Games has officially scheduled Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look for Thursday, August 27. Netflix subscribers will receive the first look at 3 p.m. ET, while everyone else can watch the presentation for free on Rockstar’s YouTube channel and the official GTA 6 website beginning at 9 p.m. ET.
That creates a six-hour early-access window for Netflix, making this one of the more unusual marketing partnerships we have seen for a major video game. GTA 6 remains scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Rockstar is calling the presentation an “Extended Look,” but it has not publicly confirmed the runtime or provided a complete breakdown of what will be shown. Fans are expecting gameplay, more information about Jason and Lucia, and a deeper tour of Vice City and the wider state of Leonida, but those details remain expectations rather than confirmed features.
The Gamer Scene Take: GTA 6 is no longer being promoted like a normal game. Rockstar and Netflix are treating this presentation like a global entertainment premiere—and the six-hour exclusivity window practically guarantees social media will be flooded with clips and spoilers before the free version arrives.
2. Alleged GTA 6 Gameplay Leaks Days Before Rockstar’s Presentation
Several clips that appear to show unfinished GTA 6 gameplay surfaced online on August 19, just over a week before Rockstar’s official presentation. The Verge reported viewing three clips, two of which were later removed from their original location because of copyright claims.
The footage reportedly showed protagonist Jason Duval participating in different activities around Leonida, including driving, combat and shooting basketball. One clip also appeared to show the return of a six-star wanted level. However, Rockstar has not authenticated the footage or confirmed that any mechanics visible in it will appear in the finished game.
The videos carried branding from a person or group calling itself “CyberLeek.” At least one clip included cryptocurrency promotion and messaging criticizing Rockstar’s digital distribution strategy. Rockstar and Take-Two had not issued a public response at the time of reporting, although copyright claims were used to remove some of the material.
Because leaked footage can come from an outdated or unfinished build, individual mechanics should be treated as unconfirmed until Rockstar demonstrates them officially.

3. GTA 6’s $100 Ultimate Edition Is Beating the Standard Version
The more expensive version of GTA 6 is currently winning the preorder battle.
Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick said early preorders are “skewing more to the Premium Edition.” GTA 6’s Standard Edition costs $79.99, while the Ultimate Edition costs $99.99. Zelnick cautioned that the current split may reflect the behavior of GTA’s most dedicated fans, who are more likely to preorder months before release.
Third-party data reported by TechRadar paints an even more dramatic picture. Sensor Tower estimated that approximately 89% of early GTA 6 preorders were for the $100 Ultimate Edition, including roughly 88.5% of PlayStation orders and 90% of Xbox orders. Those figures have not been independently confirmed by Take-Two, which has not released an official preorder unit count or percentage breakdown.
The Ultimate Edition includes additional vehicles, weapons, apparel and other content threaded throughout Jason and Lucia’s story. Both editions also include the Vintage Vice City Pack for eligible early purchases.
The Gamer Scene Take: A $20 upgrade apparently is not enough to slow down GTA’s biggest fans. The current numbers will probably become less extreme as casual buyers enter closer to launch, but the early split shows just how much pricing power Rockstar has with this franchise.
4. Fired Rockstar Workers Tell Fans Not to Boycott GTA 6
Former Rockstar employees involved in an ongoing labor dispute are asking fans not to boycott GTA 6.
The Independent Workers’ Union of Great Britain says the dismissed workers believe they were fired as part of an unlawful union-busting effort. Rather than asking players to skip the game, the workers have launched a merchandise fundraiser to support their legal case against Rockstar. The final hearing is expected to begin in Glasgow in September.
One former employee said the workers spent years helping build GTA 6 and still want players to experience the world they created. Their argument is that fans can enjoy the game while also supporting the people challenging Rockstar’s workplace practices.
Rockstar has previously maintained that the workers were dismissed over alleged confidentiality breaches involving discussions of unreleased information. The union disputes that explanation and says the conversations concerned workplace conditions and organizing activity.

The GTA 6 hype has officially reached military recruiting.
The 9th Brigade Engineer Battalion at Fort Stewart, Georgia, is offering eligible soldiers a special four-day pass timed around GTA 6’s November 19 release. To qualify, soldiers must reenlist between August 1 and November 14 and commit to at least two additional years of service.
The dates will be coordinated with each soldier’s chain of command, but the memo specifically says the pass is intended to coincide with the game’s launch. Army officials confirmed that the incentive was created as a way to connect with younger soldiers and generate interest in reenlistment.
As of the initial report, 20 of the battalion’s 130 eligible soldiers had accepted the offer, signing contracts ranging from two to six additional years.
