If I had the answers, I would not pose the question.

I can figure out the answers, but I would prefer that others engage in
maintenance of the asterisk package.

I can recommend to start from https://tracker.debian.org/pkg/asterisk
and consider contacting the various contact points that seem relevant.

I can recommend to file a bugreport and cc that bugreport when engaging
in conversations.
