Final Fantasy V Hits Game Pass Monday (May 5)—Square Enix’s Monthly Rollout Continues
Square Enix and Microsoft are keeping their pattern perfect. Final Fantasy V Pixel Remaster launches on Game Pass Monday, May 5 for Ultimate, Premium, and PC subscribers—exactly one month after Final Fantasy IV.
The pattern (it’s been consistent all year)
January: Final Fantasy I
February: Final Fantasy II
March: Final Fantasy III
April: Final Fantasy IV
May 5: Final Fantasy V
June (expected): Final Fantasy VI
This is the final numbered Final Fantasy before the series went 3D with VII. After June, the Pixel Remaster rollout will be complete.
Why Final Fantasy V matters
The Job System at its best: Final Fantasy V introduced the most flexible class customization system in the series. Mix and match abilities across 26+ jobs (classes) to create broken builds. Want a Knight who can summon? A White Mage who dual-wields swords? Go for it.
The story: When crystals maintaining world balance are threatened, the King of Tycoon rushes to investigate—and vanishes. A young wanderer named Bartz and his Chocobo encounter a fallen meteor, setting off a chain of events that pull them into a battle against the evil sorcerer Exdeath.
