Well, if it crashes while composing a message, then that message with
possible is lost as auto-save does only run every minute or so.

Good for you. ;-) Though can you quantify “seldom”? Do you have
reference to the bug reports please, so I can see if it’s also due to
WebKitGTK+? (I found corekeeper [1] quite useful to capture the core
dump files in `/var/crashes`.)
