A recent compiler is always already available:

Debian *stable distributions (including LTS) already add a new LLVM
major version annually since that is required for the latest Rust
every new Firefox ESR branch needs.

Since autumn 2022 unstable/stable/oldstable/oldoldstable all have the
same version of LLVM 13 (released October 2021) due to that, if a recent
C++ compiler was the only problem (it isn't) then everything would be fine.
