Source: webkit2gtk
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

After an unattended update the Eclipse IDE (2026-06 and 2026-09) almost
immediately crashes after one starts working with it.

The offending update was

Start-Date: 2026-10-02 08:17:04
Commandline: /usr/bin/unattended-upgrade Upgrade:
  libjavascriptcoregtk-4.1-0:amd64 (2.52.6-1~deb13u1, 2.54.0-1~deb13u1),
  libwebkit2gtk-4.1-0:amd64 (2.52.6-1~deb13u1, 2.54.0-1~deb13u1)
End-Date: 2026-10-02 08:17:09

A downgrade with

apt install --allow-downgrades \
   libjavascriptcoregtk-4.1-0=2.52.6-1~deb13u1 \
   libwebkit2gtk-4.1-0=2.52.6-1~deb13u1

resolves the issue.

I believe that Eclipse uses WebKit to display context information such as
available methods or documentation, causing the crash.
